Newtown: Refurbished in the last 10 years? Lots of community or federal funding to fix things up? One poster said there actually WAS a movie filmed there around that time..
Here's a video. Do you agree?

This is the silliest thing I've ever seen. No, Newtown has grown quite a bit, especially 15-20 years ago when a lot of new families came to town, but a "brawling, drunken town?" Goofy.

We asked this question of one of the moms in the FB page. They did confirm that parts of SH did indeed have this reputation.

Was the a bar in little Sandy Hook center that attracted all types? Sure. But the implication here was huge amounts of federal funds "changed" that. Sorry, but that is still goofy. Little Sandy Hook center has been spruced up a little in the last ten years, trying to attract people to the coffee shop and restaurant, etc., but nothing is changed that much. There are a few light posts and signs. Nothing dramatic. Since 12/14, partly due to the economy and partly due to the tragedy of 12/14 is the coffee shop and the restaurant have closed down. Sandy Hook businesses were hurt badly.

The rumor I was told when we moved here in 1998 was that there was one bar that had a bad reputation . It was rumored that locals burnt it down. But again that could be urban myths. But it has been the quiet New England town since all long as I have lived here. We moved here for the schools and the amazing small community feel. I love my town, we will never be the same but are working on a new normal. With every trial brings a lesson and we grow. We are stronger than the evil that entered our school that day!

How weird is that? ---will start a new thread. This is interesting. Thanks, shdad.

I tell him about it all the time and he thinks Im nuts but we never quite make it in.... we only live 20 minutes away - no excuse! They opened another one up the line, so i would think (hope!) they're doing well enough to stay open! They take credit cards yet? LOL
