Newtown Moms What do you want to see happen to the SHES? Torned down? Partly torned down? Perhaps a children's park? I remember the Armish school in Lancaster, PA. was torn down a few weeks after the shooting there. Do you really want your kids bussed to another town for school for ever? Your community will lose it's identity if Sandy Hook Elementary School disappears. Perhaps a new school nearby? Bruce

Honestly, I want it torn down and a new school built. There have been many meetings among town members about the fate and they are in the process of making a decision. Next year we will be at the same school we are at now. Time will tell when a new school or old one is ready. But I know my kids will never go down that driveway again. I can't even go "that way" into town with them. I made the mistake of going down riverside one day and it set them back. They were very upset...

Yes, it is very important that Sandy Hook tries to build a new school, to keep it's identity as a town. I agree, the old site should be torn down. The building is almost 60 years old now. A nice memorial on it's site would be in order, for future generations to visit.

The schools are pretty much why we chose this town. They are wonderful. I am still in shock this happened here. We are a lovely small town.

Well Kate, This incident has disturbed me greatly. I don't live near Sandy Hook, and do not know the victims or families, but even 99 percent of harden criminals in prisons would not commit such an atrocious act. Could one mentally disturb youth do this? I don't know. Something is very wrong. Will Newtown ever recover? Maybe in time, but I doubt it will ever be the same again.

I think we will recover to some degree but it will never be the same town we moved to. When we moved here and told people where we lived they had no clue where it was.. Just a small little New England town. We moved from New York and coming here was amazing. Now, it's just sad.

Our feelings vary so much on the date of the school. I have one child who wants to go back and one who says never. The one that that seems to be unanimous is that we will not be re districted. We will not settle for any loss of staff, and we must stay in Sandy Hook. Personally I believe the town should present to the teachers and staff there options. And what the teachers say goes. These teachers are who will make it good for our kids. If they are happy so are our kids. I can not say more about every teacher and staff in that school. If I can not be there with my children to keep them safe. I trust them with there lives. Though many lives were lost, the potential was so much greater. These children who were saved were saved by there teachers and staff and by those that have there lives for there friends. There is no greater love than to give up ones life for a friend. I truly believe we have 26 guardians looking after our school and children every day. This to me is more security than any show of police force.
