Good morning, I am wondering if a parent in the Newtown/Sandy Hook school system would be kind enough to tell me what time the reverse 911 automated call went out that morning to the parents to notify them of a shooting incident at the Sandy Hook school. I know its 3 months ago, so it is probably no longer stored in your phone's caller ID history. An approx time would help. Also what did the taped notification say. I am trying to get an idea of what time parents started showing up at the school. Thanks for your help........

Were these messages sent from the district or the police department?

Erik, I believe the notification to parents came from the Newtown/Sandy Hook school system, not PD. Exactly where the hardware is located to make these multiple calls to parents homes/ cellphones/ emails is unknown. I doubt the notification to parents originated from inside the Sandy Hook school, although the technology would be available to make this originate from anywhere, even the principal's home. Probably came from a district office.
The only thing I found is the message was very brisk, not even ID'ing the specific school. I do not know if shooting was mentioned, but lockdown was. I am trying to find what time the largest amount of parents began decending down to the firehouse.

My friends texted me at 10:03 am asking me if I got the lockdown message. I don't have the message saved now...she had gotten it atleast a few minutes before that. Thank you very much. So it must of went out shortly before 10AM. At 10:01-10:02 AM, one of the Newtown Police officers radioed that the Sandy Hook firehouse would be used as the area for parents to pickup their children, so this time frame would fit. Basically what I am trying to find out is if most of the parents arrived and picked up their children and left the scene before the scene was recordered by the news helicopters around 10:45-10:55 AM that morning.

I would say a lot of parents were already gone. I was in and out fast. Did not want to stick around.

CBS website sent a alert out for an update ( but for general) NBC connecticut did also. It wasn't a text. I think she just made a mistake. It was an alert type thing that pops up ony phone saying lockdown. But they also do this for amber alerts and such

So that's a service she would subscribe to, same as 'streaming news alerts'? Did you also receive the alert from CBS News?

Kate, Thank you for your prompt reply. If you cound help me on a couple more questions it would be appreciated.
1. What time did you arrive at the firehouse to pick up your children?
2. Were the children all being held in the rear wing of the firehouse? About how many children still left when you were there?
3. Did you notice one or more helicopters in the air over the school while you were there?
Thanks again, Bruce
