First every Child heard and processed things differently. And both mind continue to slowly tell me more and more about that morning. My kindergartner- when I found her in the firehouse the first thing she said to me there was shooting in the school, I want to go home now. My children know the sounds of guns. She has explained that they were in circle time and reading a story when ther was a loud noise then the intercom came on. She said she heard pops, and screams. At which point her teacher rushed to lock the door but had some trouble and the assistand had them in there cubby's . Her teacher assured them that she loved them and so did there parents and that things would be ok. Many kids were crying. After a while a police man entered the room and told them to close there eyes and hold the shoulder of the person in front of them. She said she saw blood. She asked about red jello being on someone's face. Today her biggest fear is her name starts with an A and she is the first cubby. If he came in her room she would be the first person he saw.
My 3rd Grader has been a bit more reluctant to share. She said she heard a gun, screams and yelling. She was hiding under a sink untill they were lead to safety . She still says there is a lot she doesn't want to talk about.

It's so innocent how your kindergartener describes it, 'jello on his face', so sweet, just as we'd expect to hear at that age. That's why this event, if it is a hoax or part of a grand plan, is so wrong. My heart goes out to both you and kate.

I will give you an example. My child described the stuffed animal at school ... She hoped he wasn't too scared of all the fireworks. Innocent mind of a child
